DREAM STREAM Fifa confirms historic World Cup 2026 broadcast rule change allowing fans to watch matches for FREE on YouTube
FIFA has confirmed a major shake-up to how fans can watch the 2026 World Cup, with matches set to be shown for free on YouTube for the first time ever.
In a groundbreaking move, Fifa has entered into a new partnership with the platform ahead of the tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
For the first time in World Cup history, fans will be able to watch the opening ten minutes of every single match live on the platform. Broadcasters will also be permitted to show a select number of full matches on their YouTube channels.
The move is designed to give supporters a “free taste” of the action before directing them to traditional TV coverage for the remainder of the games. It marks a huge shift in how the World Cup is delivered, with FIFA keen to tap into younger audiences who consume football through digital platforms.
Alongside live action, fans will also have access to a wide range of extra content.
